The Pampered Press – Volume 4 Issue 3

pet daycareAs we observe Memorial Day this month, remember those who sacrificed so we could live in freedom. We’re proud to continue honoring and remembering all those who have served. As Elmer Davis said, “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.”

If you didn’t know,

dogs have played a great role in some of our military’s greatest efforts. One of them is Stubby! Originally from Connecticut, he served on the 102nd Infantry in 1917 during the Great War in Europe. He provided morale visits, worked to detect gas attacks and alerted sleeping sentry of German attacks.

As the summer sun approaches us, it’s important to recognize how the heat affects your pup. If your dog is overweight, has a thick coat or is a brachycephalic breed (bulldog, pug, etc.), they are far more susceptible to heat stress! If your dog is too hot, they will likely:

  • Seek shade
  • Become restless
  • Whine or become vocal
  • Have trouble breathing

“I have a very timid rescue dog who can often be classified as difficult. I was so anxious to leave him, but the staff members were sweet and understanding from the very start. They offered to try their best and they truly tried everything they could think of to set Ash up for a successful stay. They go out of their way to help, and you can tell they really care about the dogs in their facility.” – B.N.
